This page is for Miami homeowners who own Mr-Glass impact windows and want to understand what they have, why it might be failing, and what the honest options are. If you’re not sure whether your windows are Mr-Glass or another brand, call (561) 489-4036 and one of our techs will help you figure it out. We’ve been reading window labels and rough openings in South Florida for a long time.

How Mr-Glass Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

As an independent Mr-Glass service provider, we see the same failure patterns repeat across Miami homes. Here are the five most common issues specific to Mr-Glass impact windows, what causes them, and what the fix looks like.

  • Mr-Glass 5500 series roller drag and track wear. The 5500 horizontal slider shows up in a lot of Miami condos and older single-family homes. The factory rollers are nylon, and after eight to ten years of salt air and sand grit, they flatten on one side. The sash starts to grind instead of glide. The cheaper fix is replacing the rollers; the longer fix on badly worn tracks is a track insert. We quote both so you can see the difference in writing.
  • Interlayer haze on Mr-Glass 6000 series insulated impact glass. The 6000 series uses a laminated glass makeup with an inner PVB layer. When the edge seal on the insulated unit fails, moisture creeps in and the PVB starts to cloud between the panes. This is not condensation you can wipe off. It’s seal failure, and the only real fix is a new IGU. Miami’s humidity makes this worse than most markets we work in.
  • Mr-Glass fixed-lite gasket dry rot on coastal exposures. On fixed impact units, the rubber glazing gasket is the first thing to go. East-facing and canal-front Miami homes lose gaskets fastest. The gasket shrinks, pulls away from the frame, and air starts moving through the opening. We cut and set new gasket material to match the original profile. It’s a modest repair, but waiting turns it into water intrusion, and water intrusion turns into sill rot.
  • Weep hole clogging on Mr-Glass casement and horizontal models. Most Mr-Glass impact frames have weep holes along the bottom rail. In Miami, heavy summer rain plus debris from nearby vegetation clogs those holes and water backs up into the track, then into the house. A lot of “Mr-Glass window leaks” we’re called out for are just clogged weeps. The fix is cleaning the tracks and reaming the weeps; we’ll show you how to keep them clear without damaging the frame.
  • Stripped lock hardware on Mr-Glass 5700 series single-hung. The 5700 often uses a die-cast cam lock. Forced locking and age strip the cam teeth, and the sash won’t seal tight against the weatherstripping. We replace the lock with a machined aftermarket part that fits the original prep when available. It locks firmer than the original and costs less than replacing the sash.

Our Mr-Glass Impact Windows Process

Here’s how a Mr-Glass job goes when you call TruePane Windows & Doors in Miami.

  1. 1
The call. A live person answers at (561) 489-4036. We ask what you’re seeing, when it started, and get the basic measurements from you over the phone. Then we set an appointment.
  2. 2
On-site diagnostics. A background-checked, uniformed tech comes to the home. We measure every opening twice, read the glass markings, identify the Mr-Glass series, and inspect the frame, gaskets, hardware, and rough opening. Dale Kessler reads every rough opening before he ever orders glass. That habit has kept us out of trouble on Mr-Glass jobs throughout Miami.
  3. 3
The quote, in writing. We give you a side-by-side quote on paper: OEM Mr-Glass parts when they’re available, quality aftermarket where it makes sense, and full replacement options. You see exactly what you’re getting and paying. No verbal estimates, no vagueness.
  4. 4
Parts and scheduling. We order what’s needed and give you an honest lead time. Mr-Glass parts can take longer than common brands, especially for laminate units. If aftermarket is the smart move, we say so and explain why.
  5. 5
The work. Our techs perform the repair or replacement, seal and flash to Miami windload requirements, and clean the site. We then cycle the sash, check the locks, and water-test where applicable.
  6. 6
The guarantee. Before the truck leaves the driveway, both manufacturer warranty layers are registered in writing under The Keystone Standard. Your workmanship is covered by the 90-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. No arguing, no paperwork fights.

What Mr-Glass Impact Windows Costs in Miami

Here’s what we typically see for Mr-Glass work in the Miami market.

  • Roller replacement on a Mr-Glass 5500 slider: $140-$260 per panel, parts and labor.
  • Track insert for a worn Mr-Glass slider: $180-$320 per panel.
  • Gasket replacement, fixed-lite Mr-Glass impact unit: $120-$220 per window.
  • Lock hardware replacement on a Mr-Glass 5700 single-hung: $90-$180 per window.
  • Weep hole clearing and track cleaning: $75-$140 per window, depending on buildup and access.
  • Full IGU replacement for a failed Mr-Glass 6000 series unit: $500-$950 per window, depending on size and glass makeup.
  • Complete Mr-Glass single-hung or casement replacement: $750-$1,400 per opening for a mid-range impact window, installed.

What moves the price: size of the opening, whether the original frame can be salvaged or needs replacement, whether the window is on an upper floor, and how the existing flashing was set. Miami homes along Brickell and Biscayne Bay often need more flashing rework than inland homes, and that’s reflected in the quote. Call (561) 489-4036 for a free estimate on your specific Mr-Glass situation.

Why Miami Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for Mr-Glass Work

We’ve served local communities for over 42 years, and TruePane Windows & Doors was founded in 2008 by second-generation glazier Dale Kessler out of a simple principle: out-of-true installs and voided warranties were problems worth fixing permanently. That’s why every Mr-Glass job we touch begins with measuring every opening twice and ends with both warranty layers registered in writing before the truck leaves the driveway.

We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You’ll never get a voicemail tree from us. And because we’re an authorized installer for more than a dozen manufacturer lines, including PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, we can show you honest comparisons on paper when a Mr-Glass repair stops making financial sense. We measure twice, order once, and put everything in writing. That’s how we do every job, Mr-Glass or otherwise, in Miami.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
