Trusted Custom & Geometric Windows for Miami Homeowners

When a window opening is not a rectangle, most contractors will tell you it cannot be done, or they will quote a price that sounds like a guess. TruePane Windows & Doors cuts, fits, and installs custom and geometric windows in Miami every week, and we have been doing it for over 42 years through the craft tradition Dale Kessler founded in 2008. Arched transoms in Coral Gables, trapezoid clerestories in Miami Beach high-rises, circular porthole windows in mid-century Kendall homes - we manufacture the geometry to match the opening, not the other way around. If you have a window that is leaking, fogged, binding, or simply wrong for the opening, call (561) 489-4036 and a live person will answer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What Our Custom & Geometric Windows Service Includes

Custom and geometric windows are not a single product line. They are a discipline. Every opening gets measured twice, quoted on paper, and built to the actual dimensions of the house, not a catalog. Below is what we do under this roof, and how it applies to homes across Miami and the surrounding cities.

Custom Impact Windows

Miami-Dade County has the strictest windborne debris codes in the country, and a custom-shaped window still has to meet them. When a homeowner in Doral or North Miami wants a large trapezoid or radius window that also carries an impact rating, we work directly with the manufacturer to engineer the custom impact window lamination, frame reinforcement, and anchoring schedule for that specific geometry. The result is a window that passes inspection and carries both warranty layers in writing. We do not cut corners on code because we are the ones pulling the permit and standing next to the inspector.

Custom Impact Windows

Geometric & Shaped Windows

A geometric or shaped window is any opening that is not a standard square or rectangle: triangles, pentagons, hexagons, parallelograms, and the odd six-sided clerestory above a front door in Palmetto Bay. These openings are often original to the house, which means the framing is decades old and the original glazing, if it exists at all, has seen better days. We measure the opening three ways, account for any settling or racking the house has done, and order the glass to the sixteenth of an inch. The frame is built to sit square in an opening that has not been square since the Carter administration.

Geometric & Shaped Windows

Arched & Curved Windows

Full-radius, half-radius, and elliptical arches carry a specific risk in South Florida: the laminate curve must be perfect or the glass will fail at the apex within a few humid seasons. We have reglazed arched windows in Aventura where the previous installer used a flat piece of glass and force-bent it into the frame, which is exactly what a fogged seal looks like two years later. Our arched and curved window units are manufactured on a radius template we cut on site, so the glass matches the true curve of the opening and the seal stays tight.

Arched & Curved Windows

Oversized Openings

When an opening is eight feet wide or taller, standard framing math stops working. Oversized openings in Miami Gardens, Homestead, and Cutler Bay carry higher wind loads, heavier glass, and the need for structural headers that the code may not have required when the house was built in 1983. We evaluate the header, the king and jack studs, and the anchoring points before we order the unit. Then we install it with the same two-man, shimmed-and-square process we use on every window, regardless of size. If the pane is not true, the job is not done.

Brands We Service for Custom & Geometric Windows

We are an authorized installer for more than a dozen manufacturer lines, and for custom and geometric work in Miami we most often specify PGT, CGI, and CWS because those factories have the engineering depth for non-standard shapes that carry Miami-Dade impact ratings. PGT’s custom radius and shaped lines have been our go-to for coastal homes from Miami Beach to Aventura, where we have installed hundreds of their units and know their anchoring schedules well enough to catch a spec sheet error before the unit is ordered. CGI gives us the laminated thicknesses and frame reinforcement options that oversized openings in Doral and Homestead frequently require, and CWS handles the narrow-sightline modern geometries we see more of in newer Coral Gables builds.

We also service and replace windows by ViewLux and every other manufacturer in the Miami market, including Andersen, Pella, Marvin, and Milgard. If you have a failing unit from a brand no longer in production, we will source the replacement glass, mill a new sash if needed, and match the frame profile so the window does not look like a patch. Whether you have PGT, CGI, CWS, or any other make, we can quote it, order it, and stand behind it.

Signs You Need Custom & Geometric Windows Right Now

  • Water stains on the drywall or floor beneath a shaped window. The flashing details on non-standard openings fail long before the window itself does. In Miami’s hurricane-season rains, a leaking octagon window in Doral or Palmetto Bay will drip for months before you notice the stain, and by then the sill plate is soft. That is a replacement, not a caulk job.
  • Fog between the panes of an arched or radius unit. A failed seal on a rectangle is bad. A failed seal on a curved piece of laminated glass means the entire unit has to be reglazed on a radius template. We see it most often in Miami Beach condos where the original builder used a non-impact unit and the sea air worked on it for twenty years.
  • The window binds or will not open in July. Miami’s humidity swells wood framing, and aluminum frames in direct sun expand at a different rate than the glass. A custom window that is tight in January and impossible in August was installed too tight. We rebuild the surround and reset the unit so it operates year-round.
  • Visible cracking or chipping at the corners of a geometric pane. Stress concentrates at the points and corners of a shaped unit. A hairline crack running from the corner of a triangle window in Kendall is not cosmetic; it is the glass telling you the frame was over-shimmed or the opening is racked.
  • Condensation or moisture inside the frame channel. If you can see water beading inside the track or the glazing channel of a shaped window in North Miami, the weep system is clogged or was never drilled for that geometry. The water is not draining, which means it is soaking the wood or corroding the aluminum behind the wall.

Our Custom & Geometric Windows Process - Step by Step

  1. 1
Site Visit and Triple Measurement. A background-checked, uniformed TruePane technician comes to your home in Miami at the time we said we would be there. We measure every opening at the top, middle, and bottom, and we measure the diagonals to quantify any racking. If the opening is not square, we do not guess - we record the actual numbers and build to them.
  2. 2
Written Line-Item Quote on Paper. Before we leave the first visit, you get a quote that lists the glass, the frame, the labor, the permit, and both manufacturer warranty layers with their durations stated. We quote manufacturer lines side by side when it matters, so you see the difference between a PGT and a CGI unit in dollars and in warranty terms. No surprise line items. Ever.
  3. 3
Manufacturing and Permit Pulling. We pull the permit, coordinate the product engineering data with Miami-Dade’s building department when the opening is structural, and order the unit from the manufacturer with the exact specifications we measured. If the manufacturer flags a problem with the geometry, we catch it here, before the window is built.
  4. 4
Installation, Set Square and True. On install day, the same technician who measured your opening comes back with the crew. We shim, level, plumb, and square the frame using a laser level and a machinist’s square on every axis. No unit leaves our hands until the pane is true - that is the founding rule Dale Kessler still keeps on the whiteboard.
  5. 5
Warranty Registration and the 90-Day Done Right Promise. Before the truck leaves your driveway, both manufacturer warranty layers are registered in writing and the durations are documented in your job file. If anything is not done right within 90 days, we come back and make it right. No paperwork fights, no arguing, no fine print that covers neither us nor you.

How Much Does Custom & Geometric Windows Cost in Miami?

A typical custom geometric window in Miami runs $1,200 to $4,500 per unit for supply and installation, depending on the shape, the glass package, and whether the opening requires structural work. Here is how that breaks down in practice:

  • A fixed-shape window (triangle, pentagon, trapezoid) with standard insulated glass: $1,200-$2,800.
  • An arched or radius window with impact-rated laminated glass: $2,200-$4,500.
  • An oversized opening with a custom-engineered header and structural anchors: $4,000-$7,500, and more if the wall itself needs reframing.
  • A full custom impact window matching an existing Miami-Dade NOA (Notice of Acceptance) unit: $2,800-$5,200 per opening.

What changes the price: whether the unit carries a Miami-Dade impact rating, the frame material (aluminum is the standard here; wood-clad and thermally broken options cost more), the size of the curved glass, and whether the rough opening has to be rebuilt to true size. We give you the exact number in writing before we order anything, and our free estimate includes the labor, the permit, the unit, and the warranty registration. No allowances, no “to be determined” line items. Call (561) 489-4036 and we will tell you what the job costs.
