How TruePane Windows & Doors Was Born in Miami
TruePane didn’t start as a standalone company. It started as the window crew inside a general contracting outfit, and in 2008 Dale Kessler split it off for one simple reason: windows were the part of every job that got argued about later. Not the framing, not the drywall. The windows. Out-of-true installs that bound in July. Seals that fogged in year three. Warranties that turned out to cover neither. Dale kept a level in his truck door and a rule on the whiteboard: if the pane is not true, the job is not done.
Bringing that standard to Miami was never a hard decision. We saw what happens in this climate when shortcuts get taken. Salt air works on cheap frames. Hurricane season finds every weak seal. A window that was never square will bind against its track after a single summer of thermal expansion. Miami deserved better than patch-and-run work, so we built a local team around one promise: measure every opening twice, quote the manufacturer lines side by side on paper, and register both layers of the warranty before the truck leaves the driveway. That’s how we opened our doors here, and that’s how we still work.
Dale Kessler’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade
Dale Kessler grew up around glass the way some kids grow up around baseball. His father was a glazier, and the work was just there, in the house, in the truck, in the rhythm of the week. He remembers the sound of a glass cutter scoring a fresh pane, that thin scratch like a zipper under pressure. He remembers the smell of glazing compound, linseed oil and chalk dust, and the way his father’s hands moved when he set a pane, patient and exact. Nothing about it was rushed.
The trade got into him young, but the lesson that mattered came later. He learned early that a window either fits or it doesn’t, and no amount of caulk or cussing changes that. The opening is either square or it isn’t. The pane is either true or it isn’t. He watched journeymen who took the extra ten minutes to shim an opening properly slide a sash in like it was greased, and he watched hurried crews yank that same sash back out two months later with the frame bowed. That’s the whole craft in one scene. Ten minutes of patience, or a lifetime of binding.
What gets him out of bed now is simpler than it sounds: he doesn’t want anyone in Miami to open a window and feel it stick. He doesn’t want a homeowner to stand in their own living room and argue with themselves about whether the condensation on the glass is normal. It isn’t. And if he weren’t doing this, he’d probably still be leveling something, tinkering, checking a reveal with his thumbnail, making sure the corner is square. Some people carry the trade. It never left him.
Meet Dale Kessler - The Person Behind Every Job
Dale Kessler is the Owner & Founder of TruePane Windows & Doors, and the name on every job we take in Miami. He’s a second-generation glazier, trained in the trade from the ground up, and he’s spent his career on the install side of the business, not in a showroom. That matters when you’re dealing with a house in Cutler Bay that settles a little, or a mid-century condo in North Miami with openings that haven’t been square since Eisenhower was president. He knows what those jobs feel like on a ladder, not just on a spec sheet.
He’s a reader of old trade manuals, the kind with hand-drawn illustrations and no marketing. He’ll still check a reveal with his thumbnail before he trusts a tape. And he has a soft spot for old tools he doesn’t need but buys anyway. The point is this: every job in Miami carries his name, and he takes that personally. If it’s not right, he wants to know. Not next month. Now.
Our Promise to Miami Homeowners
We work by a simple code, and we wrote it down so it wouldn’t drift. We call it K.E.Y.S.
- Krafted right – trained journeymen, proper materials, no shortcuts.
- Every time – the 400th job gets the care of the first.
- Your home first – we work in your house the way we’d work in our mother’s.
- Standing behind it – if it’s not right, we come back. No paperwork, no arguing.
The Keystone Standard backs every install: both warranty layers in writing, durations stated, 90 days on our workmanship, no arguing. In Miami, where a storm can find any gap you left, we’d rather do the job once and never get a callback than leave a homeowner holding a fogged pane and a phone number that doesn’t answer.
Our Credentials
- Licensed & insured – every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires. We don’t cut corners on paperwork any more than we cut them on flashing.
- Bonded – the bond protects you if something goes sideways. We carry it because you shouldn’t have to hope a contractor does the right thing.
- Rooted in Miami – local team, local knowledge, local service area. We know what salt air does to frames and what hurricane code means in practice, not just on paper.
- Strong local reputation – the kind that builds slowly, referral by referral, and sticks because we keep showing up.
Why these matter to you: a license means someone besides us is watching. Insurance and bonding mean your home and your money are protected if the unexpected happens. Local roots mean we’re still here next year, next storm season, next decade, not gone when the phone rings.
Rooted in Miami
We work in the neighborhoods we know, from Kendall to Hialeah to Palmetto Bay. We know which years of construction in Coral Gables mean cast-concrete openings, and which Doral subdivisions settle in predictable ways. We answer the phone with a person, not a menu. That’s not a marketing line; it’s how we run things, because a company that plans to still be in Miami in thirty years acts like it. Truing the pane, square and plumb and sealed, that’s the whole craft. It’s also the name on the truck.
