Mr-Glass Impact Garage Doors: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If you’re looking for a Mr-Glass impact garage door in Miami, we stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible doors and hardware, with most complete door replacements running $2,800 to $6,500 installed depending on size, track configuration, and opener integration. We keep common Mr-Glass hardware, track components, and reinforcement parts on our trucks, so we can often get a failed part swapped the same visit once we’ve matched it to your door. Most Miami homeowners call us after a storm cycle, when a panel has taken a hit, a track has started bowing, or the door simply won’t balance anymore. The salt air along Brickell and Coconut Grove is hard on rollers, hinges, and springs, and a door that sounded fine in March can grind by August.

One thing worth saying up front: TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider, not a Mr-Glass dealer or factory affiliate. That means we’re not bound to push any particular line. We match the part to the door you own, in whatever condition it’s in, and we tell you honestly when a repair makes sense and when a full door replacement is the better dollar.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass impact garage doors come in a few distinct series, and the parts do not all interchange. The line most of our Miami customers own is the single and double-glazed aluminum frame series built to Florida Building Code HVHZ requirements, most commonly in 8×7 and 16×7 dimensions. We also service Mr-Glass wind-load-rated doors that use reinforced stiles and thicker glass units, which require different panel clips and center hinges than the standard residential line.

The fastest way to match your part is to look for the manufacturer label. On Mr-Glass doors, you’ll find a small anodized tag riveted to the left stile, roughly halfway up the inside face of the door. It will list the series code, the glass make-up, and a date of manufacture. If that tag is missing, we measure the rail width, the stile profile, and the hinge spread before ordering anything. A Mr-Glass hinge set for a wind-load door will not mount cleanly to a standard series stile, and forcing it is exactly how a homeowner ends up with a voided warranty and a door that binds.

On replacement hardware, we carry both OEM Mr-Glass components where lead times allow, and quality aftermarket equivalents from manufacturers we’ve vetted over years of Florida installs. For high-wear items like rollers and torsion components, a good aftermarket part often outlasts the OEM piece in salt-exposure conditions, and it costs less. For anything that changes the structural or wind-load rating of the door, we stay with OEM. That’s not marketing. It’s the difference between a door rated for a hurricane and one that merely looks like it is.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Impact Garage Doors Is Failing

  • The door hesitates or stalls halfway up. This points to a torsion spring losing tension or a roller binding in its track. In Miami humidity, roller bearings rust faster than most people expect, and a single failing roller will make the whole door fight the opener.
  • You hear a metallic grinding or a sharp squeal when the door moves. Grinding is almost always a track issue: a misaligned rail or a bracket that has pulled loose from the jamb. Squealing is typically dry or seized rollers. Left alone, both spread the damage.
  • The door sits crooked in the opening, or you can see daylight under one corner. That is a cable or spring imbalance. A door that sits crooked puts uneven load on the hinges and the glass. On a Mr-Glass door with large panes, that uneven tension is what cracks a glass unit.
  • You notice hairline cracks forming at the corner of one glass panel. On impact-rated glass, a surface crack can appear without the pane shattering. It is still a failed unit. The laminated interlayer holds, but the door’s rating is compromised, and Miami code does not care that it hasn’t fallen out yet.
  • A visible gap has opened between the bottom of the door and the weather seal. You may just see more dirt, or you may feel air moving. In Miami, that gap is how rain and road spray get to the track, and once the track starts rusting under the seal, the repair gets more involved.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Mr-Glass impact garage door in Miami, a full door replacement runs $2,800 to $6,500 installed. The range is driven by door size, glass thickness, whether the door is a single bay or double bay, and whether the existing track and opener can be reused. A hardware-only repair, like new rollers and a torsion spring, typically lands between $320 and $800, including the parts and the service call.

Our pricing is fixed and written, and we quote the work before we touch the door. That means you see the part cost and the labor separately, and the number we quote is the number you pay. We don’t add surprise line items at the end. Every installation carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not done right, we make it right, with no paperwork fights and no arguing. The workmanship guarantee is in writing, and we register any applicable manufacturer warranty layers in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and it applies to every Mr-Glass door we install or repair in Miami.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can safely check on your own. See if the photo-eye sensors at the bottom of the track are dirty or misaligned. Check that the opener is plugged in and the breaker hasn’t tripped. You can also run your hand along the track to feel for obvious debris. Those are reasonable homeowner moves.

But I want to be direct about this: the torsion spring assembly on a garage door is under enough tension to seriously injure or kill a person. On a Mr-Glass impact door, the springs are stronger than on a standard residential door because they have to counterbalance a heavier panel. We do not recommend anyone touch a torsion spring, a lift cable, or a bottom bracket without training and the correct winding bars. In Miami, we see homeowners every year who tried to save a few hundred dollars and ended up with a hospital bill and a door that still doesn’t work. If the spring is involved, call us at (561) 489-4036. We’ll be there when we say, and if the pane is not true, the job is not done.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
