Mr-Glass Energy-Efficient Windows in Miami: What to Know First

We repair and replace Mr-Glass energy-efficient windows throughout Miami, and most jobs are done in a single visit. You’ll get a written line-item quote before any work begins, with both warranty layers registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. If you own a Mr-Glass window that’s fogged, drafty, or letting UV light fade your floors, call (561) 489-4036 and a live person will answer. That’s not a callback service. That’s us.

This page is for Miami homeowners who bought Mr-Glass windows years ago and are now watching the energy bills climb or the glass cloud up. We’re an independent Mr-Glass service provider, not a factory warranty arm. That matters, because we tell you what’s actually wrong, not what the manufacturer’s script says to say.

How Mr-Glass Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Every window line has its habits. Mr-Glass is no different. Here’s what we see in Miami homes, week after week:

  • Seal failure on the Mr-Glass 6000 Series double-pane units. The desiccant strip inside the spacer eventually saturates in Miami’s humidity, and once it does, the argon leaks out and the glass fogs from the inside. You can’t wipe it off because it’s between the panes. We replace the insulated glass unit (IGU), not the whole frame, unless the frame is also compromised.
  • Low-E coating degradation on south-facing Mr-Glass picture windows. Miami sun is relentless, and after eight to twelve years the metallic oxide coating on the interior glass surface starts to develop a hazy, blotchy film. It looks like hard water stains that never go away. The fix is a new IGU with a current-generation Low-E coating rated for South Florida’s solar load, not a film patch.
  • Frame warping on Mr-Glass vinyl sliders exposed to western afternoon heat. Vinyl expands and contracts. In Miami, west-facing windows can see surface temperatures above 140°F in July. Over time, the frame corners on Mr-Glass sliders can twist enough that the sash no longer seats flush against the weatherstripping, which lets conditioned air bleed out. We re-square the opening, reset the frame, and replace the weatherstripping with a higher-durometer material.
  • Condensation between panes on Mr-Glass casement windows near the coast. Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, anywhere within a mile of Biscayne Bay, salt air is a factor. The seals on older Mr-Glass casements fail faster near saltwater. If you see moisture inside the glass after a cold front in January, that’s seal failure. We replace the IGU and can upgrade to insulated laminated glass for better sound control and impact resistance.
  • UV fade on Mr-Glass single-pane storm windows still in service. Some Miami homes still have original Mr-Glass single-pane units, especially in mid-century neighborhoods like Shenandoah and Morningside. Single pane blocks almost zero UV. Faded hardwood floors, bleached upholstery, and warm spots near the glass are the telltale signs. We replace these with ENERGY STAR-rated double-pane units and the difference in room temperature is noticeable the same afternoon.

Our Mr-Glass Energy-Efficient Windows Process

We’ve been doing this long enough to know that rushing a window job creates problems that show up in July. Here’s how a Mr-Glass replacement or repair goes with us:

  1. 1
You call (561) 489-4036. A person picks up. We ask what you’re seeing, when it started, and which direction the window faces. That last question tells us a lot in Miami’s climate.
  2. 2
We measure every opening twice. Dale Kessler reads a rough opening before he ever orders glass. If the rough opening is out of square by even a quarter inch, the new unit will bind. We catch that before we order.
  3. 3
We quote manufacturer lines side by side on paper. If your Mr-Glass frame is sound, we quote a direct replacement IGU. If you’re done with Mr-Glass, we also quote PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows options, so you see the price difference in writing before you decide.
  4. 4
We do the work in one visit. The old unit comes out, the new IGU goes in, and the opening is re-flashed and sealed. We use backer rod and elastomeric sealant rated for South Florida humidity and salt exposure.
  5. 5
We test before we leave. We run a smoke pencil along the perimeter to check for air leakage. If it pulls smoke, it’s not done right. If the pane is not true, the job is not done.
  6. 6
We register both warranty layers in writing. You get the manufacturer’s IGU warranty and our workmanship warranty, durations stated, on paper, before the truck pulls away. That’s the Keystone Standard.

What Mr-Glass Energy-Efficient Windows Cost in Miami

Here’s straight pricing for common Mr-Glass jobs in Miami, typical as of 2025:

  • Replace a fogged IGU in a Mr-Glass 6000 Series double-hung: $385-$640 per pane, depending on glass size and Low-E spec.
  • Replace a Mr-Glass picture window IGU with UV-blocking Low-E glass: $550-$950 per pane.
  • Full replacement of a Mr-Glass vinyl slider with a PGT or ES Windows energy-efficient unit: $1,400-$2,800 installed, depending on size and impact rating.
  • Window energy audit for a full home: $225-$400, applied as a credit toward any work you book with us afterward.

What moves the price: glass square footage, whether the frame needs re-squaring, accessibility on upper floors, and whether you want laminated glass for storm protection. We don’t pad the bill. We don’t add surprise line items. A square deal means the quote is the price. Call (561) 489-4036 for a free estimate.

Why Miami Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for Mr-Glass Work

We’ve served Miami for over 42 years, and Dale Kessler has been running TruePane since 2008 on a rule his father taught him in a two-bay glazing shop in Columbus, Ohio: measure twice, order once, and put everything in writing. That’s how we work. Every tech who walks into your home is background-checked and uniformed. Every job carries the 90-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right, no paperwork fights, no arguing. And because we’re authorized installers for more than a dozen lines including PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, we’re never stuck trying to sell you a brand we only carry because it was in stock. When a Mr-Glass window isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you that and show you what we’d put in its place.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
