ECO Window Systems Window Replacement: The Miami Owner’s Guide

Replacing a failed ECO Window Systems window in Miami typically runs between $850 and $2,400 installed, depending on the series, glass package, and whether the frame itself needs work. We stock ECO-compatible replacement sashes, balances, and hardware on our trucks, and most single-unit replacements go in the same day. The usual path to this page starts with a window that won’t stay up, a crank that spins free, or a seal that’s fogged between the panes. By the time a Miami homeowner calls us, they’ve usually been fighting that window for a season or two and are done with it.

Here’s the straight version: ECO Window Systems built decent mid-range impact and non-impact windows for the Florida market, but no window survives Miami forever. Salt air, hurricane-driven rain, and three hundred days of UV take their toll. The good news is that replacement parts for most ECO lines are still available, and a proper replacement beats a patch job every time.

Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems produced several lines that show up regularly in Miami homes, including the ECO 2000, ECO 3000, and ECO 5000 series single-hung and horizontal roller windows, plus the ECO 9000 impact line. The compatibility gotcha we see most often: ECO 2000 and 3000 sashes share frame dimensions but use different balance shoe profiles, so a part that looks right on the bench will bind in the jamb. We measure the balance shoe width and the sash channel depth before we order anything.

Here’s how to identify what you have. Look for the manufacturer label on the inside edge of the sash or the top of the frame near the lock. If the label is gone, the corner gaskets and the glazing bead profile are usually enough to identify the series. ECO 5000 units have a deeper frame pocket than the 2000/3000 lines and use a heavier spring balance. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, ECO-branded replacement parts still exist through select distributors, but we’ve installed enough of both to tell you this: on the ECO 2000 and 3000 lines, a quality aftermarket balance from a US manufacturer often matches or beats the original’s lifespan. On the 5000 and 9000 series, we recommend OEM or exact-spec equivalents because the heavier sash weight leaves less room for error. Dale Kessler’s rule on parts matching has never changed: measure twice, order once, and put everything in writing.

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, and we don’t pretend to be. What we are is an authorized installer for more than a dozen manufacturer lines, and we keep ECO-compatible replacement inventory on the truck alongside PGT, CGI, and CWS parts, because Miami homes rarely have just one brand of window.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Window Replacement Is Failing

  • The sash won’t stay up. On ECO single-hung and double-hung windows, this almost always means a failed spring balance. The spring inside the balance tube snaps or loses tension, and suddenly the sash drops like a guillotine. It’s a repairable part, not a full window replacement, but left alone it will chew up the frame channel.
  • Condensation or fog between the glass panes. That’s a failed insulated glass unit seal. In Miami’s humidity, a blown seal fogs fast and never clears. The glass needs replacement, not cleaning, because the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated and can’t recover.
  • The crank turns but the sash doesn’t move. On ECO casement and awning windows, this is typically a stripped operator gear or a snapped torque bar. The operator is replaceable. But if the sash hinges are seized from salt corrosion, you’re looking at a sash replacement instead.
  • Water staining on the interior sill or drywall below the window. This is the one you can’t ignore. On ECO horizontal rollers, it’s often the sill track drain holes clogged with Miami’s fine limestone dust, but on any series it can also mean failed glazing tape or a warped sill. Water inside the wall is never a small problem.
  • The sash is hard to slide or lock. Aluminum frames in Miami oxidize. The ECO roller assemblies were built to a price point, and once the nylon rollers wear flat and the stainless carrier corrodes, the sash drags. Replacement rollers are a same-day fix if the frame channel isn’t gouged.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we quote regularly across Miami, from Kendall to Brickell to Coral Gables:

Modern floor-to-ceiling sliding glass impact doors in a luxury home nationwide
  • Balance replacement (per window): $180-$340 installed, two balances included
  • Roller assembly replacement (per sash): $145-$260 installed
  • Insulated glass unit (IGU) replacement: $325-$650 per pane, depending on size and Low-E/impact coating
  • Full sash replacement (non-impact): $650-$1,100 installed per sash
  • Full window replacement (impact-rated, Miami-Dade compliant): $1,200-$2,400 installed per opening

The range comes down to three things: which ECO series you have, whether the opening is standard or custom-sized, and whether we’re matching existing glass or upgrading it. Parts and labor are separated on every written quote, so you see exactly what you’re buying. Every job carries the 90-Day Done Right Promise, and on replacements where we install a new manufactured unit, we register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and it’s non-negotiable for us.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s an honest split here. If you want to check the manufacturer label, photograph the window, measure the visible glass width and height, and clear the sill track, you can do all of that safely and it genuinely helps us quote accurately over the phone. What you should not attempt is removing a sash under spring tension. A loaded balance on an ECO 5000 can release with enough force to take off a fingertip, and a dropped aluminum sash will crack tile, scar a sill, or worse. We’ve rebuilt too many frames where someone’s YouTube education went sideways. If the window involves a spring balance, a heavy sash, or glass removal, let a trained technician handle it. Call (561) 489-4036 and we’ll send someone who works in your home the way they’d work in their own mother’s.

BBill T.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
